Walk Home From Work Photos

Decided to take the slow way home after work today, namely walking. Fought off the urge to use some Starbucks card credit and wound my way back towards home on Rockland Avenue. The most notable stop was Government House. Along the way I took some pics.

20 Minute Tour of Comox

Michelle and I were up in the Courtenay Comox area this weekend and decided to make a quick drive into Comox this morning before we left. Why? Just because. Our 20 minute tour revealed that Comox looks like a nice little town, as much as a 20 minute tour can reveal. Suffering from a bit of photo burnout I didn’t take many while in Comox, but did attempt to get a few bird shots on the way out of town. Would have been cool if there were some eagles within camera range, but there weren’t today, so geese and seagull is what you get.

I’ve been thinking about trying to take some photos of insects for a while now, but haven’t managed to get any decent ones so far this year. Part of my problem might be the fact that bugs don’t stay still for long, but I think it’s mostly just me needing to develop the skills to track and catch the little buggers. As it turns out sitting on a bench at Oak Bay on a sunny day with flowers in front of you is a good start.

By the way, bees are cool.

It’s Friday again. With a couple bike rides in the bank this week I felt less guilty about not doing much this evening aside from a walk along the water after work. Took some pics along the way while cursing the photo gloominess, but enjoying being near the ocean.

After a pretty good bike ride today, I headed down to Oak Bay Marina to take some photos and unwind. I didn’t really have anything in mind in terms of a theme for the outing, so I was kind of surprised it ended up being about chubby seals, an otter, and some birds.

It’s Friday Again

Another week in the books, and in what has become something of a tradition, I wound down with a circuitous walk to the bus stop while snapping some pics. Being somewhat dreary and with the threat of rain, not many pics were taken. I figured I’d share two.

Saturday Morning… I Take Many Photos

Grabbed the camera this morning and headed to various locations in this thriving metropolis of Victoria. You may question the ‘thriving’ claim since it will be hard to find evidence of people in any of the photos below. First stop was Gonzales Hill observatory – a nice spot overlooking some of the Victoria waterfront. Next stop was the Gorge Waterway near the Selkirk Trestle (part of the Galloping Goose Trail. The final stop was Beacon Hill Park. I managed to take almost 500 photos in about two hours… thankfully I’m not so good at photography that I have a high ratio of keepers, which makes it easier on me during my photo processing efforts. I ended up trashing all but about 40 pics. Most of the trashers were pics of ducks on burst mode; I was hoping to accidentally capture some interesting duck action.
